Kit Car Trailer Single Axle Car Transporter Trailer Braked -for Caterham etc
The weight capacity is about 700kg max (see below), so this trailer is for a kit car e. Caterham, Westfield, MK, GBS, or a seriously light / stripped out track car. Most modern cars that would be considered light e. MX5, MR2, Fiat 500 weigh about 1000kg stock and are too heavy for this trailer. Now onto the description. This is a kit car trailer from the factory, as opposed to a caravan conversion. The load area is 305cm long, 167cm wide. The trailer was made before plating requirements, but the tow hitch is rated at 20CWT (1016kg) and tyres at 417kg each. I estimate the trailer itself weighs 100-150kg, so that leaves about 700kg for the car. It has the older style auto retarder brakes, where you have to move a lever to disable them to reverse the trailer (see photos). This means you can reverse up a sloped driveway without burning the clutch! The trailer had a lot of work done to it recently. All new lights/electrics with a modern 12-pin pin plug, front marker lights, side reflectors, LED number plate lights and rear cluster lights with fog and reverse on both sides (easier to see when reversing in the dark). Things like front markers, side reflectors and reverse are a legal requirement on this type of trailer, so it is fully compliant. Prop stands with new clamps and brackets that also serve to protect the rear lights. The previous owner (who had this trailer from new) did a full overhaul with new brake shoes and wheel bearings prior to sale. I think he also did a small weld repair on the trailer (see photos). Comes with a spare wheel and a small-but-better-than-nothing hitch lock. I’ve upgraded to a twin-axle car transporter, hence the sale. Any questions, please ask.
