Who has ever gone on a camping trip with the family and can’t move on the journey there because the car is packed full? Here is the solution. This WAS a Combi camp trailer tent. The tent is long gone. It has a large carrying capacity, so ALL your camping items can go in, leaving your car just for the passengers! I restored it a few years back with a friend who can weld. Originally, the main hinge was a piano hinge, which sheared off on a camping trip! , so it was reconfigured with steel and aluminium sheeting where needed (including the light panel to the rear, as the original was just formed plastic), re- wired and fog lamps added. (As it is wide). The inside was sheeted with thicker ply. I painted it and double undersealed it. I capped the main bar to the tow hitch in aluminium so that it doesn’t need painting. A new plate was welded in for the new jockey wheel. All the electrics have just been tested and working perfectly. You’ll see the back panel on the inside, which houses all the wiring. Just inspected this, and it is bone dry, no water at all. The main lid hinges are well greased. Inside there is an original spare tyre which I’ve housed in its own box, along with two rubber footed, treated blocks of wood for the drop down support legs. On the outside it has a you can see a full length rack which can store more items or bikes if you want. Originally this rack moved independently from the top, but because I’ve changed its use, it has been bolted down to the top with protective strips of aluminium underneath where the rack touches the top. All gaps and areas of potential water ingress have been sealed with black Siroflex MS polymer. I’ve added an additional rubber strip riveted all the way around the lid to provide extra protection from water. As you’ll see, the lid is supported by a pole that sits into two steel plates, one on the lid the other in the trailer. It comes with a heavy duty plastic cover with a clear panel to the rear for the lights. Supplied are two pieces of ply which I use while the trailer is not in use to stop the cover sagging and filling with water when it rains. Comes with a trailer hitch lock and one key. Because this trailer is wide, you’ll have no problem with speed bumps, unlike other trailers, it’s pretty stable. Strongly recommend bringing a proper number plate with you. I still have the old number plate (although it’s now been taken off) as it could be used to drill a similar spacing to the holes in the trailer. Just fitted two brand new easy speed tyres. Internal sizes are: 2m 6cm x 1m 66cm x 29cm.

Twin axle trailer for general purpose use which, because of its size, could be converted with added ramps etc. For use as a car transporter. The bed is 12 feet long by 6 feet wide. The rear tailboard can be easily removed for loading with fork lift etc. As the rear lights are mounted independently from the tailgate board. The flooring is in good order. The lower (original) wooden floor boards could probably do with being replaced at some stage but as there is new flooring on top this is not essential or urgent. The jockey wheel and security chain were recently replaced and all four tyres are in good order. The side rails are steel and there are several sturdy tie down hooks welded to the bed frame to secure any loose load. The trailer does not have a maximum weight plate but we have used it on several occasions to carry, probably around two tons with no problem. It has previously had an overrun braking system as each of the wheels have hub brakes fitted (and it has a sliding coupling) but the hydraulic master cylinder is no longer there, although the bracket to take it is. It would probably be a pretty straight forward job to refit a master cylinder but we have never had a need for brakes. Overall, a very serviceable and large trailer in reasonable used condition. Located in Essex, about 8 miles from Stansted Airport. Note: Loaded 5 bar field gate not included. Aircraft grade aluminium / tubular frame clam-shell covered trailer suitable for a small race car like a Caterham or even a Radical. I have been using it for nearly 3 years towing my Classic Formula Ford Single Seater but I understand it has been used to tow historic F1 cars in the past. It rolls freely and is light enough to move by hand. Whilst it is still very serviceable and roadworthy, it could benefit form some cosmetic refurbishment. I have fitted a battery to power the electric winch and it have strip LED lights that are very effective. The trailer has canvass sidewalls that keep the inside of the trailer out of the wind and make the inside a great place to sleep. The trailer is watertight and has had new tyres last year. There is a super useful box on the hitch that is used to store tie down kit and the wheel clamps. There are 2 hasps fitted to the lid making the trailer secure. 15′ (4.57m) Long. 79 (2.0m) Wide for loading. 71 (1.80m) – between wheel arches. Flat Floor With Tie Down Rings. Hitch, safety cable and good electrics. Ideal For Sports Racing Car, Large Single Seater or road sports cars. I have owned this trailer for several years now and we have used it to tow historic sports cars – it’s nice to turn up with a’period’ trailer. This trailer tows brilliantly and I have been told it very stable even above the legal speed limit! One of the benefits of the clam shell design is that it is low enough to go under the’Class 1′ height restriction so tolls in France are much cheaper.
