This is something you don’t see every day. I have 2 x ford capris I really don’t need another half! Sorry about the bad pictures. As far as I know all the lights work -wired up to a normal tow plug / socket. The tyres are totally shot but if you can’t bring another pair I can get some second hand ones fitted. It does need body work all around but is a good starting point. No I did not cut this up myself. The metalwork at the front is just kind of bashed around the edges, I have had this over a year and have not made a start on it, I don’t think I will ever get around to doing it. It has a complete ford English axle with diff etc, most of the brakes are in the boot. Dented and has some rust – no back bumper, but as I said a good starting point. Collection only as I don’t have a car with a tow bar at the moment. No keys, but all the locks are open, obviously no v5 – nor is it needed. Yes, its all fun and games to come up with these ideas while youre drinking but to actually go through with it? Christ on a bike! What went on here? Well, Mondeos are cheaper than shoes these days so when you have a spare bit of one why not do something fun and blend it with a caravan chassis? Well I expect there are dozens of reasons not to do it but also there is Hold My Beer. A thing of beauty/confusion/abomination, take your pick. So what is it? Well, its a car and a matching half car trailer to be used as you see fit. For me the project has gone far enough and its time for someone to take it to the next level and what that is will be someone elses vision. I expect it will be either a promotional piece for a business or a camping pod. The price of teardrop trailers and camping pods is almost eye-watering for what you actually get and some of them are barely big enough to fit a single sleeping bag. This is novel, and plenty big enough to make something really nice I feel. They go together, I’m not splitting this pairing up. It is mostly trimmed out, has LED lights in the roof and sliding window to the front (from an LDV minibus I believe). The Electric rear windows work (with one-touch opening) as well as a fully electric tilt and slide sunshine roof which also works on a full one-touch operation. There is a battery fitted to run these items, remote central locking and alarm as well as a remote boot release. Many of these are built with some pretty sketchy home grown A-frames welded up from old bits of angle iron or farm gate which does make me somewhat nervous, this however has a caravan chassis so it used to effectively support a bungalow rather than the surprisingly lightweight back end of a Mondeo. Also (and most importantly) it is BRAKED rather unlike so many others and you hardly know it is there under braking. Things to note. There are two more alloy wheels that match they are very scruffy but they have good tread on the tyres you can repaint these if you wish. The trailer has it’s own spare tyre included so you do have a couple of space savers if you need them. The paint isn’t a proper bodyshop job, I painted in a garage, the good news is that I have about 2.5l of’touch-up left over to go with the car just in case. It needs some flatting and polishing and the front panel is a bit wavy like an old Land Rover. The front window is yet to be bonded in, it’s screwed in but not water tight, I have a tube of SikaFlex but just haven’t got round to it. The car is a 2.5 v6 Ghia X with all the usual refinements plus a few surprising extras as it was originally a demonstrator for Ford. It had touchscreen navigation and climate control (removed but included), Factory HID lights, heated and even air con cooled electric front seats, auto lights auto wipers etc. Reverse camera which is very handy for hitching up the trailer. 13pin euro electrics to ensure all the lights work on the trailer including reverse and a split charge to charge the trailer battery. Ever so slightly lowered on Eibach springs as one factory spring snapped and if youre going to do a pair you may as well do all four and have an upgrade. Ive made the PDC switchable too as it was very annoying as a solid tone when the trailer is attached. It has 4x matched Goodyear tyres that have at least half of their life left in them. The car is far from perfect, its 16 years old now and was a CAT C total loss just before I bought it. The damage has never been repaired largely due to the fact that you can’t see it, the radiator support is bent which is a thin piece of the subframe at the front and obviously an expensive repair but the structure is fine. I have run it for almost 40k miles like this over 4 and half years. It had 70099 miles the day I got it as it had been cherished by a mature owner from 6 months old until 2015. The car has damage on it and Im not going to list every mark and dent etc. Its covered almost 109k miles (which while pretty low for one of these but a lot to get away without a blemish) it does get a lot of compliments on its condition. Ok, let’s be sensible for a moment, if you’ve got this far you may be serious. I would sincerely advise coming to look at the pair of them before doing anything rash. The trailer has it’s own instagram feed so I can upload extra images, put videos on YouTube or whatever you need to help out, just ask. There’s a fair bit to say about it, so I’ll do my best to put up everything I can think of. It was originally a 1989 827 Si Manual that I picked up for parts and decided to turn into a trailer. Bodywork/External – The car was originally white but is now Pulsar Silver to match my previous 827. With the trailer being 28 years old it is showing it’s age in places but is not falling apart. Running gear – The tyres on the trailer were new last year. I also have 2 spare wheels with good tyres on to go with it. The hitch is a proper braked trailer hitch that pulls on the cars OE handbrake cable so it has working overrun brakes though no auto reverse. Inside – I’ve done very little inside the trailer as it’s been used for camping. There’s a false floor in the rear with a removable section where the battery is kept. There’s a couple of small bulk heads in the middle that I’ve used for storing chairs and tables. Plus a small shelf in the front for bits and bobs. Where the battery is, there’s a central locking unit which is remote operated for the doors. For the tailgate you can either use the key or a third button on the remote which will release the lock after holding it for 3 seconds. The bike rack at the rear will come with it as I have no use for it. Along with the LED trailer board and now working reverse lights. Though I can remove it if not required. New parts since it was built include. Spares to come with it if required. Pair of brand new handbrake cables. 2 matching alloys with good tyres. Plus a few other bits I think I still have for it. Please ask me anything I’ve forgot to mention. I’ll do my best to answer it. Cash on collection only.
